Siemens and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity have signed an agreement on the addition of new power generation capacity for Iraq, including the expansion of transmission and distribution networks. Phase 1 of the roadmap includes contracts valued at around 700 million euros.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Siemens and Iraq's Ministry of Electricity sets out a plan to add 11 gigawatts of power generation capacity in four years. The expansion is expected to produce enormous cost savings, supply power to 23 million people and create tens of thousands of jobs.
